Professional Bike Fitting

The Bike Shop Partners with Intrinsi

The Bike Shop and Intrinsi have partnered to bring Calgary its first holistic bicycle-fitting centre. Working with Spencer Pootz of Intrinsi, a Retül-trained physiotherapist, our approach blends gold standard Retül dynamic motion-capture fitting technology with the medical and bio-mechanical training of physiotherapy. With Intrinsis' knowledge of injury causation, treatment and prevention, our fitters/therapists assess and treat both the body and cycling position. Already tried and proven successful in other parts of the world, this integration brings a truly holistic approach to the fitting process. The ability to assess and treat both your bio-mechanical cycling position and your body physiologically is what sets us apart.

Retül is the most advanced bike fitting and product matching technology on the market. It is a process. Our fitters begin with a physical assessment to determine any existing physical limitations and previous injuries. After discussing your goals for cycling, which is directly related to your fit, we turn to the Vantage Motion Capture System to collect real-time, three-dimensional data from your pedal stroke. This data is then compiled into our system so our fitter can dial you into your perfect ride position.

Who is Intrinsi?

Our clinic brings together a diverse team of osteopaths, physiotherapists and massage therapists who work together in a model of care that centres all focus on the client. We strive to make a genuine difference in our clients’ lives.

Pre-Fit Information

Your fit will take place in the second floor fit room at the Bike Shop Central, located at 801 11 Ave SW. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes early so that your fitter can start promptly, and to ensure you get the full benefit of your appointment time. If you are going to be late please call the store at (403) 264-0735 to let us know. If you are more than 15 minutes late, we may have to reschedule to avoid overlapping appointments.

Please bring the following:

  • Bicycle
  • Pedals
  • Shoes
  • Water Bottle
  • Your usual cycling clothing.  Tighter fitting clothing allows more accurate measurement with our motion capture camera.
  • If you have more than one saddle or stem that you are considering please bring those as well.
  • Cyclists with aerobars or integrated handlebars should bring any extra pieces or adapters they own to allow position changes.
  • cyclists with full suspension mountain bikes should bring the clothing and gear they normally wear riding including repair kits and full hydration packs.  Weight affects suspension sage and thus saddle placement.

If you have any other questions or concerns please email for more information.
